AVW-TELAV has LEED-accredited AV professional on staff

AVW-TELAV is proud to announce that we now have a LEED AP (accredited professional) on staff. Upon supplementary research, we believe we are the first and only AV integrator in Canada to do so. This substantial achievement is vital to the progression of our overall Corporate Social Responsibility/Green Policy, our pledge to offer our customers the most sustainable and environmentally-sound audio visual solutions, and our intent to extend our integrated systems focus beyond traditional AV markets.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally-understood and accepted tools and performance criteria. LEED is a third-party certification program and an internationally-accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. It provides building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings' performance.

Byron Tarry, General Manager, System Design and Integration, AVW-TELAV, attained his LEED accreditation recently with the goal of promoting and developing audio visual related technologies as a core element of sustainable building design and operation industry-wide. "The global sustainability movement has spurred a new focus in the construction of Intelligent Buildings," notes Byron. "Traditional AV technologies, in display and control in particular, have a significant opportunity to improve building efficiency and operation, as well as to engage, entertain, educate, and empower the people within those buildings to understand their environmental footprint and change their own behaviours."
