Samsung's Technological Masterpiece

Situation

Samsung envisioned its office environment to be a technological masterpiece with state-of-the-art communications equipment and presentation tools. But what they didn't want was for their meeting spaces to appear equipment-cluttered or gaudy.

Through our thorough needs-analysis process, we were able to understand exactly what Samsung wanted, and then provided the resources needed to fulfill their technological and aesthetic requirements.

Solution

The WAR room is under control. This is the area where key members of Samsung's team and executives meet to plan and strategize. The room consists of a U-shaped table with recessed access points—also called cable cubbies—where users can plug in their laptops. In this scenario, each laptop-connected individual can display the contents of his or her screen on any of the six stylishly and strategically-positioned display devices, four of which are 52" LCD flat panels, one which is a 70" flat panel and, of course, the main projector screen, which is perpendicular to the displays and in front of the ceiling-mounted projector.

This, however, is just the method of viewing; the way the room operates is the best part! A Crestron Touch Panel allows any of the connected laptops' screen contents to be selected and shown on any display at any given time. There are no other remotes cluttering the table and the single-user access of the touch panel is conducive to the "War" room's controlled environment. A DVD player was also installed for presentation purposes.

The TRAINING room with one or two views. This room is used for mass training or presentations and can be divided into two separate rooms, each with its own projector and screen. The two rooms feature separate Crestron controls for laptop connections, DVD play back, and the volume of the speakers, which we installed in the ceiling to keep out of view.

Eco-friendly solution. As Samsung is conscientious of its environmental impact, AVW-TELAV also installed a wall-mounted conventional white board, which allows its employees to brainstorm and write out all of their ideas but only print the necessary material and simply erase the excess! Best of all, since it's wall-mounted, it takes up no additional space!

Results

Technological Masterpiece. With all the devices involved in this installation, the fear of having the technology over power the presentation areas was well-warranted. Due to the design phase of AVW-TELAV's installation model, we were able to take into consideration all of Samsung's requirements and carefully balance the equipment with the aesthetics. The layout is surprisingly spacious, and since its completion, AVW-TELAV has been brought in several times to incorporate numerous smaller installations.
